Two pieces of raw canvas were pigmented with pastel. Dozens of grasses, harvested from a single meadow patch adjacent to a wood, were hand-printed using the two canvases as mirror images.

In Linda Snouffer's collection of Unexpected Botanicals, botanical prints are created in untraditional ways. Some landscapes are composed using plants printed to represent things other than the plant species (printed grasses look like cattails; yarrow leaves print into pine trees; mountains scenes were made using prints of banana leaves). Other landscapes use innovative printing techniques that resemble stained glass or Batik fabrics.
