Dusky Hills

Dusky Hills is composed of many layers: banana leaves were printed on organza compose the mountains; yarrow and filipendula leaves printed on organza and paper make up the tree line. The prints are appliqued to pigment infused tissue paper. The entire piece has pigment infused organza fused to the surface and is over-painted with chalk pastel.

The original 16” x 20” has been purchased.

In Linda Snouffer's collection of Unexpected Botanicals, botanical prints are created in untraditional ways. Some landscapes are composed using plants printed to represent things other than the plant species (printed grasses look like cattails; yarrow leaves print into pine trees; mountains scenes were made using prints of banana leaves). Other landscapes use innovative printing techniques that resemble stained glass or Batik fabrics.
