Drawn in by the Mist • Unexpected Botanicals

This forest landscape was made by printing dried grass onto pigment infused polyester. Acrylic over-painting defines the trunks and gives them texture. The image is varnished, mounted on a birch cradle board, and ready to hang.

In Linda Snouffer's collection of Unexpected Botanicals, botanical prints are created in untraditional ways. Some landscapes are composed using plants printed to represent things other than the plant species (printed grasses look like cattails; yarrow leaves print into pine trees; mountains scenes were made using prints of banana leaves). Other landscapes use innovative printing techniques that resemble stained glass or Batik fabrics.
